Abstract:

The International Museum of Surgical Science is located in Chicago's historic Gold Coast neighborhood and is host to over 10,000 square feet of gallery space devoted to the history of surgery. The Museum is devoted to showcasing both the art and science of surgery. The Museum's library includes over 4,000 rare medical texts, some dating back to the early 1500's. The library can only be accessed through research appointments and no photocopying is allowed.
